Abu Dhabi will host the UAE’s first ever solo exhibition dedicated to the pioneering Egyptian modernist sculptor Mahmoud Moussa. Titled Sculpture, Form and Memory, the show is presented by Maha Al Mansoori Art Gallery from 11 to 15 November at Region Concept Space in MiZa, Zayed Port.

Born in Alexandria in 1913, Moussa belonged to the second generation of pioneers of modern Arab art. Unlike many contemporaries who studied in Europe, he trained independently in Egypt before becoming a teacher, and he passed away in 2003 at the age of 90. The exhibition offers a rare opportunity to engage with the work of one of the most important figures in Arab modernism.

Founded by Emirati art collector Maha Al Mansoori, the UAE based nomadic gallery presents emerging and established artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, and is preparing to open its permanent space in Abu Dhabi in early 2027.
