Meraas Transforms Dubai Design Week Into a Living Portrait of d3’s Creative Future

As Creative Living Partner of Dubai Design Week, Meraas unveils an immersive installation that translates the Dubai Design District's masterplan into a sensory experience, inviting visitors to imagine how design, culture and community will shape residential life in one of the emirate's most dynamic neighbourhoods.

The texture of a place reveals itself slowly. At this year’s Dubai Design Week, Meraas has constructed a space that does precisely this: it unfolds the Dubai Design District not as architectural renderings or master plans, but as a lived experience. The Meraas Creative Living Space, conceived in collaboration with Duette Studio, translates the five defining areas of d3 into something visitors can inhabit, understand and feel.

From 4th to 8th November, the installation comes alive as a conversation between built form and human life. The Creekside, Design HQ, SOHO, The Sanctuary and The Mindspace emerge as distinct yet connected zones, each exploring how homes, public spaces and cultural experiences might weave together to define everyday existence within the district. It is architecture as storytelling, and the story being told concerns not just where people will live, but how they will connect, create and belong.

The programme draws together an impressive constellation of architectural and creative partners, among them Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Woods Bagot and U+A, alongside voices drawn from Dubai’s thriving architecture, design and creative community. Throughout the five days, a series of conversations and workshops examine the texture of these questions: how design serves the creative economy, how the creative process itself unfolds, and how d3 continues to evolve as Dubai’s creative nexus. The sessions probe deeper still, exploring how design can forge connection between people and places, and how it sustains the communities that give a district its soul.

As evening settles, the SOHO element transforms into a gathering place for music. Daily listening sessions featuring Ben Palace, DJ Liutik and Karrouhat invite visitors to experience sound as part of the district’s emerging cultural life. Music becomes not entertainment but infrastructure, another thread in the tapestry of social experience that Meraas believes will animate d3’s residential neighbourhoods.

The installation reflects a philosophy that has become central to Meraas’ approach to place-making: that distinctive destinations emerge not from architectural excellence alone, but from the conviction that design shapes not only the built environment but the texture of how people gather, move through space and spend their time. Recent residential developments within d3 have already begun to realise this vision, bringing together refined amenities and direct access to the district’s creative energy.
