Microsoft and G42 Illuminate the Future of Human-Led, Agent-Operated Business at SIF 2026

Leading technology executives have outlined transformative approaches to artificial intelligence deployment, revealing how sovereign wealth funds and enterprises across the Emirates are reimagining workflows through sophisticated human oversight and agent-operated systems.
At the Sharjah Investment Forum 2026, a compelling vision of artificial intelligence’s role in contemporary business emerged, demonstrating how leading organisations are harnessing agent-operated systems whilst maintaining rigorous human governance and control.
Maria Sanchez, Senior Vice President of AI Product Delivery at Inception (G42), illuminated the sophisticated application of AI within an Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund, where artificial intelligence presents alternative investment perspectives to inform decision-making processes. The system generates comprehensive analyses and counterarguments to investment proposals, yet human reviewers retain absolute authority, meticulously examining each recommendation for accuracy and propriety before any investment committee considers such counsel.
This measured approach extends across procurement workflows, where artificial intelligence orchestrates the journey from purchase requests through contract awards, managing budgetary considerations, preparing scopes of work and proposing evaluation criteria. Throughout this process, human oversight remains paramount, with personnel retaining the capacity to review and override every system recommendation.
Rima Semaan, Chief Solutions Officer at Microsoft UAE, emphasised the critical importance of building organisational infrastructure aligned with immediate requirements, rather than perpetually awaiting the next technological advancement. Successful scaling of AI adoption, she explained, demands connected organisational data, appropriate access controls and the capacity to trace every agent action with transparency and precision.
The emerging paradigm, which Semaan characterised as “human-led, agent-operated”, requires fundamental workforce transformation. As employees increasingly supervise artificial intelligence agents, they must cultivate judgement, delegation and leadership capabilities alongside perpetual learning. This evolution positions every team member as a manager of sorts, responsible for guiding, monitoring and ensuring accountability of their AI counterparts.
Both executives stressed the paramount importance of traceability and organisational control. Sanchez underscored that businesses must understand precisely what agents are doing, when human review has occurred, and the reasoning behind each decision, ensuring that appropriate safeguards remain embedded throughout every workflow.
The trajectory toward successful AI integration, as both speakers outlined, encompasses more than mere productivity enhancement. Organisations must redesign workflows, pursue fresh revenue streams and demonstrate unwavering leadership commitment to artificial intelligence adoption. When senior leaders themselves embrace AI for their most valuable daily activities, such enthusiasm cascades throughout the organisation with considerable momentum, driving widespread acceptance and sophisticated implementation across all levels.
