Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund backs Wisewell's sustainable water purification ambitions

A UAE-based water technology company has secured AED2 million in credit guarantee support to accelerate its IoT-enabled purification systems and advance its environmental mission.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund, an initiative established by the Ministry of Finance to nurture the UAE’s innovation and entrepreneurship landscape, has announced substantial backing for Wisewell, a homegrown water technology enterprise. The AED2 million credit guarantee will bolster the company’s capital investment, business development and research initiatives, particularly strengthening its capabilities in Internet of Things-enabled water purification technology.

Wisewell’s flagship offering represents a compelling alternative to single-use plastic consumption. The company’s smart systems purify water directly at source whilst simultaneously delivering real-time data analytics, empowering both households and businesses to monitor water quality, environmental impact and consumption patterns with unprecedented clarity.

Fatima Yousif Alnaqbi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector at the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry’s representative at the Innovation Fund, underscored the strategic significance of this partnership. “The Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund remains committed to supporting innovative companies that contribute to the UAE’s future-focused and sustainability-driven economy,” she remarked. “Wisewell represents a strong example of a home-grown UAE company leveraging advanced technology to address critical environmental and public health challenges through sustainable solutions.”

The executive further noted that by supporting enterprises such as Wisewell in scaling their operations and accelerating innovation, the initiative continues to reinforce the Emirates’ standing as a global hub for innovation and sustainable development.

Sami Khoreibi, Wisewell’s founder, characterised the funding announcement as a watershed moment for the enterprise. “The support from MBRIF marks an important milestone in Wisewell’s journey as we continue to transform how households and businesses access clean drinking water,” he observed, highlighting the multifaceted challenges associated with conventional bottled water distribution, including delivery logistics, plastic waste accumulation and household clutter.

The partnership is expected to accelerate research and development endeavours whilst expanding operational capabilities, enabling the company to deliver measurable environmental and health benefits whilst establishing a UAE-developed technology platform with considerable international potential.

To date, Wisewell has prevented over 17.4 million single-use plastic bottles from reaching landfills—a tangible environmental achievement that has garnered significant recognition. The company’s credentials have been further strengthened through its selection for the Ministry of Economy’s Future100 initiative and its inclusion amongst the top 20 finalists in Majra’s Sustainable Impact Challenge 2025.

The Innovation Fund’s Guarantee Scheme represents a distinctive financing mechanism, enabling high-potential businesses to access capital without surrendering equity stakes, thereby permitting strategic investment in technological advancement, operational strengthening and sustainable expansion.
