Näss: Where Moroccan Soul Meets Contemporary Hip Hop

We are invited to experience a most captivating collision of musical traditions and movement at The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi, where the boundaries between the sacred and the street dissolve in a performance of extraordinary vitality.
Näss, which translates as People, weaves together the popular and urban dimensions of hip hop dance with the profoundly ritual and sacred aspects that this art form can summon. The raw, rhythmic soul of 1970s Moroccan music meets the visceral pulse of contemporary hip hop, creating a dialogue between eras and cultures that speaks to the universality of human expression through movement.
The performance emerges from the creative vision of Fouad Boussouf and Le Phare, the Centre Nationale de Danse du Havre Normandie, bringing to Abu Dhabi a work of considerable artistic sophistication and cultural resonance. Presented with the generous support of Dance Reflections by Van Cleef and Arpels, this production represents a commitment to elevating dance as an intellectual and emotional art form.
We gather at The Red Theater on Friday, 30th October 2026 at 7:30 in the evening for an immersive encounter with this remarkable work. The venue, nestled within the cultural precinct of Saadiyat Island, provides an intimate setting for an evening of profound artistic engagement.
Tickets are available to reserve online, inviting us to witness a performance that transcends geographical and temporal boundaries, celebrating the transformative power of dance and its capacity to articulate the deepest expressions of human culture and spirit.
