Ras Al Khaimah Establishes First Business Consultancy in Guangzhou, Deepening Strategic Partnership with China

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has inaugurated the Emirate's inaugural business consultancy in Guangzhou, marking a transformative milestone in deepening commercial and diplomatic relations with one of China's most dynamic economic regions.

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, inaugurated the Emirate’s first business consultancy in Guangzhou during an official ceremony that underscored the enduring bonds between Ras Al Khaimah and Guangdong Province. The consultancy, strategically positioned in the heart of China’s leading economic and industrial centre, represents a significant evolution in the relationship between the Emirate and the Chinese region.

Situated in one of China’s most vibrant commercial hubs, the consultancy will operate as a dedicated platform fostering meaningful engagement between Ras Al Khaimah and Chinese enterprises. The establishment facilitates the development of substantive partnerships and expands cooperation across key sectors of mutual economic interest, transforming what has traditionally been periodic engagement into a framework of continuous and transformative collaboration.

The inauguration ceremony brought together Mariam Alshamsi, UAE Consul General in Guangzhou, Eng. Yousif Al Ali, CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity, and prominent Chinese business leaders. The occasion celebrated a relationship with profound historical foundations, tracing back centuries to maritime trade that connected Ras Al Khaimah with China through the exchange of precious goods, including fine porcelain and pearls. This rich heritage, combined with more than four decades of formal diplomatic relations between the UAE and China, provides an exceptional foundation for continued prosperity and partnership.

Addressing those present, His Highness Sheikh Saud reflected upon the principles underpinning successful international relations. “Our history and our experience have taught us that partners look beyond opportunity alone,” he remarked. “They seek stability, transparency, governance and commitment. This is the environment we have built in Ras Al Khaimah. Today, we take a meaningful step forward in our partnership, inaugurating Ras Al Khaimah’s first business consultancy here in Guangzhou.”

The celebration encompassed rich cultural dimensions, including a traditional Chinese lion dance and the distribution of customary red packets, infusing the formal proceedings with vibrant ceremonial significance. His Highness toured the new consultancy facility, acquainting himself with its operational scope and infrastructure.

The inauguration coincided with the Ras Al Khaimah 2027 Calendar Sketches Competition, in which nearly 200 Guangzhou students aged 11 to 15 participated, channelling artistic vision into exploration of the Emirate’s natural landscapes, mountains, beaches, heritage, culture and traditions. The twelve winning entries will be featured in the official Ras Al Khaimah 2027 Calendar, forging meaningful cultural connections between young people across both regions.

During his visit to Guangdong, His Highness Sheikh Saud engaged with Wang Xi, Member of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial Committee, to discuss deepening relations and expanding cooperation across sectors of mutual benefit. The meeting included Hussain Al Hammadi, UAE Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, and Mariam Alshamsi, UAE Consul General in Guangzhou.

Guangdong Province, with a population exceeding 128.6 million, commands the largest economy among Chinese provinces, with a GDP of US$2 trillion in 2025. The region’s economic strength rests upon advanced manufacturing, electronics, automotive production, textiles, pharmaceuticals, high-technology industries, finance and real estate sectors.
