RTA Honoured with Dubai-it Award for Excellence in Government Innovation

The Roads and Transport Authority has been recognised by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed for embodying Dubai's philosophy of delivering extraordinary achievements with excellence and unprecedented speed.
The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has been bestowed with the prestigious Dubai-it Award for Institutions in the Field of Government, a distinction honouring its remarkable contributions to accelerating public services, enhancing operational efficiency and elevating the experience of all who rely upon Dubai’s transport and mobility infrastructure.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, extended his congratulations to the Authority, acknowledging its steadfast commitment to delivering major roads, bridges and tunnels at twice the speed and efficiency of global benchmarks without any diminishment in quality. The Dubai Metro, operated by the Authority, maintains an exceptional punctuality rate of 99.7 percent as the network continues its ambitious expansion programme with additional stations coming into service.
The Dubai-it philosophy, conceived by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, represents a transformative approach to institutional work culture, emphasising the achievement of extraordinary outcomes with excellence delivered in record time. The Roads and Transport Authority has become an exemplary embodiment of this principle, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to innovation and service excellence across every dimension of its operations.
Among the Authority’s most noteworthy accomplishments is the execution of iconic infrastructure projects, including the celebrated Infinity Bridge, completed at speeds and costs that substantially outpace international standards whilst maintaining superior quality. The Authority has successfully implemented over 250 traffic improvements that have contributed to reducing travel times by up to 60 percent across key routes throughout the emirate.
The organisation has pioneered advanced technological solutions, including AI-powered autonomous taxis that represent the future of urban mobility in Dubai, and has established the Air Taxi Station as part of the emirate’s forward-thinking approach to next-generation transport systems. Comprehensive expansions and enhancements to cycling infrastructure have been executed with both elegance and efficiency, reflecting the Authority’s holistic commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Chairman of the Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, observed that the Dubai-it Award recognises an institutional model characterised by sustained achievement, rapid responsiveness and tangible impact on the quality of life enjoyed by Dubai’s residents and visitors. The Authority’s approach of converting user feedback into measurable improvements within twenty-four hours exemplifies its commitment to continuous refinement and customer-centred service delivery.
The Roads and Transport Authority has implemented 117 expedited improvements within two years and has made 82 services available without any waiting time, reflecting an institutional culture dedicated to reducing bureaucratic friction and responding with unprecedented speed to the evolving needs of the transport network’s users. These accomplishments collectively demonstrate how visionary leadership, combined with operational excellence and technological innovation, creates lasting value for an entire city and its people.
