Sharjah Airport Authority Establishes Youth Council to Empower Young Talent

A new platform launches to amplify the voices of young employees and drive innovation across the aviation sector on UAE Civil Aviation Day
Sharjah Airport Authority has unveiled its Youth Council, a strategic initiative designed to harness the considerable potential of its younger workforce and create meaningful channels through which their perspectives can shape organisational direction and culture.
The establishment of this dedicated platform represents a significant commitment to recognising the vital role that emerging talent plays in the aviation sector’s continued evolution. By providing young employees with a structured voice in workplace development, the Authority demonstrates its understanding that innovation and fresh thinking are essential drivers of institutional progress.
Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, reflected on the significance of the initiative: “The launch of the Youth Council coincides with UAE Civil Aviation Day, an occasion that reflects our pride in the nation’s achievements and the sector’s role in strengthening global connections and supporting travel, tourism, and trade. It also reaffirms the role of our young employees in our development journey, through a platform that enables them to share their ideas and translate them into initiatives that support our strategic objectives, within a work environment that encourages creativity and excellence.”
The Council will serve several interconnected functions within the organisation. It will represent the interests and aspirations of young employees, develop and implement targeted initiatives and programmes, and present ideas that advance continuous improvement and innovation. Furthermore, the Council will strengthen both internal organisational engagement and broader community involvement.
Looking beyond the Authority’s operations, the Council will represent Sharjah Airport Authority at local, regional, and international youth forums and events, organise workshops and professional development programmes for young staff members, and cultivate partnerships with relevant youth councils and organisations across the sector.
The timing of this launch underscores the UAE’s broader commitment to youth empowerment and development. UAE Civil Aviation Day celebrates the aviation sector’s essential role in connecting the Emirates with the world whilst highlighting how young people contribute meaningfully to sustained sectoral advancement. Through initiatives such as the Youth Council, the aviation industry reinforces its investment in nurturing the next generation of professionals and leaders.
