Sharjah Animation & Comics Conference 2026 Unveils Transformative Creative Programme

The Sharjah Animation & Comics Conference will present over 25 enriching activities across visual storytelling, animation and character performance, welcoming creative professionals and enthusiasts from across the region and beyond.

The Sharjah Animation & Comics Conference (SACC 2026) stands as a remarkable gathering of creative excellence, presenting an expansive programme of more than 25 activities designed to cultivate and elevate artistic prowess in visual storytelling, drawing, animation and character performance. Hosted at Aljada, Sharjah, from 22 to 25 October, the conference brings together an illustrious assembly of regional and international creative professionals, established artists and emerging talent.

Orchestrated by the Sharjah Book Authority, the conference offers an extraordinary array of workshops and masterclasses conducted by accomplished practitioners spanning comics, animation, filmmaking and product development. The curriculum encompasses a fascinating intersection of disciplines, each designed to enrich participants’ understanding of contemporary creative practice.

Among the distinguished offerings, the masterclass entitled “From Comic Art to Collectables” invites participants into the transformative process by which comic artwork and character designs become three-dimensional collectible objects. Through this session, attendees explore the creative and production considerations involved in translating two-dimensional illustrations into tangible, sculptural forms.

“Learning Traditional Animation” illuminates the enduring principles of hand-drawn animation, demonstrating how these foundational techniques enhance comic art and facilitate more dynamic action sequences, expressive characterisation and compelling sequential storytelling. The masterclass “Writing for Animation – From Script to Screen” extends this exploration, examining how storytelling methodologies from comics translate seamlessly into animated narrative, encompassing considerations of pacing, dialogue, visual language and character development.

“The Art of Lightsaber Dueling” presents a distinctive examination of how martial arts choreography conveys character and creates persuasive cinematic combat through movement, stance and carefully choreographed sequences. “The Cosplay Life Drawing Masterclass” offers participants the opportunity to develop observational drawing skills whilst studying live cosplay models posed in styles inspired by comics, fantasy and popular culture, with particular emphasis upon gesture, anatomical accuracy, movement and compositional mastery.

“Creature Performance & Motion Capture” provides fascinating insight into the translation of physical performances into believable digital characters, exploring how posture, breathing and rhythm shape non-human movement and introducing motion-capture technologies that facilitate the transfer of live performances into animation and virtual production environments.

Collectively, the conference’s comprehensive programme demonstrates the remarkable interconnectedness of creative disciplines, illustrating how artistic skills developed within one medium may be thoughtfully applied and reimagined across multiple formats and platforms, from traditional illustration to digital production.
