Sharjah Charity International Dedicates AED177.7 Million to Monthly Assistance Programmes

The organisation reaffirms its commitment to supporting vulnerable families across the UAE and beyond, marking the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty with an emphasis on empowerment and self-sufficiency.

Sharjah Charity International has channelled more than AED177.7 million into monthly assistance programmes spanning the period from 2014 through to the conclusion of 2025, according to Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors. This substantial commitment underscores the organisation’s unwavering dedication to supporting low-income citizens and residents throughout the emirate.

As the world observes the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on 17 October, Sheikh Saqr reaffirmed the association’s steadfast resolve to serve those in need and facilitate underprivileged families’ journey towards self-sufficiency, extending its humanitarian endeavours throughout the UAE and internationally.

The organisation’s carefully designed programmes align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly the imperative objective of eliminating poverty. Rather than confining its approach to temporary financial relief, the association adopts a transformative philosophy that empowers families to cultivate independence and construct a more promising future for their descendants.

The monthly assistance initiatives extend compassionate support to widows, divorced women, elderly citizens and individuals facing employment challenges, affording stability and dignified living conditions to thousands of families. Beyond the emirate’s borders, Sharjah Charity International has invested more than AED216 million in providing nutritious sustenance to vulnerable communities across Asia and Africa, facilitating the distribution of more than 12.3 million food baskets to those experiencing deprivation.

Healthcare initiatives administered by the organisation have reached more than 66,000 patients across the globe through comprehensive medical campaigns and projects designed to alleviate the hardships endured by people living in poverty. These endeavours reflect a holistic understanding of humanitarian need and a commitment to addressing multifaceted dimensions of vulnerability.

Sheikh Saqr emphasised that charitable endeavour within the UAE has evolved into a sophisticated, integrated framework grounded in the generosity and solidarity championed by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and perpetuated by the nation’s present leadership. The association’s philosophical foundation rests upon empowerment rather than mere assistance, transforming charitable work into a dignified pathway from adversity towards autonomy and self-determination.
