Sharjah hosts landmark forum to strengthen women entrepreneurship ties with China

A strategic gathering in Sharjah brought together leading businesswomen and investors from the UAE and China to explore investment opportunities and foster economic partnerships in high-growth sectors.

Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, working alongside the General Women’s Union and the UAE Embassy in Beijing, convened the Sharjah-China Businesswomen Forum to cultivate deeper economic connections between female entrepreneurs across both nations.

The forum brought together fifteen Chinese business leaders and representatives from prominent investment institutions and economic organisations, creating a platform for meaningful dialogue on expanding trade relationships and identifying compelling opportunities within emerging markets. The gathering emphasised the strategic importance of women-led enterprises within global value chains and their role in driving sustainable economic growth.

Among the distinguished participants were Halima Humaid Ali Al Owais, Board Member of SCCI; Counselor Amna Alhammadi, Deputy Chief of Mission at the UAE Embassy in Beijing and Chairwoman of the UAE-China Women Entrepreneurs Council; and Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector at SCCI.

The discussions encompassed several pivotal themes: deepening the Sharjah-China economic partnership, strategies for businesswomen to scale their enterprises internationally, and leveraging technological innovation within high-potential sectors. One-to-one meetings between participants explored concrete possibilities for joint ventures, strategic alliances, and future business delegations.

Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi underscored the forum’s significance within the broader context of UAE-China relations. He highlighted that China ranks as the UAE’s largest trading partner globally, representing approximately 11 per cent of the nation’s total non-oil trade whilst holding first position in imports and eleventh in non-oil exports. He affirmed that the forum established a vital bridge for nurturing deep business connections between Sharjah’s entrepreneurial community and their Chinese counterparts, enabling promising opportunities to crystallise into tangible commercial ventures.

Counselor Alhammadi emphasised the UAE-China Women Entrepreneurs Council’s dedication to translating these emerging connections into enduring business relationships and high-value collaborative projects. She recognised the forum as an essential mechanism for fostering direct engagement, facilitating knowledge exchange, and cultivating partnerships responsive to expanding market opportunities across both economies.

The forum forms part of an expansive investment programme encompassing visits across multiple emirates, designed to identify trade opportunities, examine new cooperation pathways, and develop sustainable economic partnerships between UAE and Chinese business sectors. Chinese delegation representatives expressed their gratitude to the Sharjah Chamber, the General Women’s Union, and the UAE Embassy, recognising Sharjah’s established credentials as an attractive and dependable investment destination for Chinese commercial interests.
