Sharjah Innovation Park forges strategic alliance with global Telugu technology network

SPARK signs landmark memorandum with World Telugu Information Technology Council to foster international collaboration in research, innovation and business development across the UAE and beyond.

Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SPARK) has established a significant strategic partnership with the World Telugu Information Technology Council (WTITC), a globally influential technology network based in India. The agreement, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at SPARK’s headquarters, represents a commitment to deepening international cooperation across technology, research, innovation and investment sectors.

Dr. Fareed Mahmoud Abdalla Alameeri, Chief Strategy Officer at SPARK, and Sundeep Kumar Makthala, Chairman of WTITC, oversaw the signing of the accord. The partnership encompasses collaborative initiatives in applied research, technology development and transfer, technology validation, pilot projects, and knowledge exchange, with ambitions extending across Sharjah, the broader UAE and the GCC region.

SPARK functions as a government-backed innovation ecosystem, bringing together governmental bodies, academic institutions, research organisations and industry stakeholders. The park provides essential infrastructure and strategic partnerships that support research endeavours, prototyping activities, technology development, commercialisation pathways and access to both international and regional markets.

WTITC represents an expansive global community, connecting 2,843 technology companies operating across 63 countries, alongside entrepreneurs, innovators and technology professionals. Through this collaboration, WTITC member organisations gain valuable opportunities to engage with Sharjah’s research institutions, universities, companies, startups and investment networks. Conversely, Sharjah-based enterprises and innovators can access WTITC’s extensive international marketplace and talent pools.

The partnership operates as a reciprocal arrangement, designed both to support Telugu technology companies and entrepreneurs seeking to establish or expand operations in the UAE and GCC, and to create pathways for Sharjah’s innovations and enterprises to penetrate new global markets. The extended engagement of Sundeep Makthala, through multiple visits to Sharjah and substantive discussions with government, academic, research and business leaders, proved instrumental in identifying practical areas of shared interest and mutual benefit.

Dr. Alameeri remarked upon Sharjah’s increasingly robust global connections within the technology, talent and investment spheres. He outlined the partnership’s potential to transform international relationships into tangible opportunities for research collaboration, technology advancement, market commercialisation and sustainable business development. By uniting SPARK’s ecosystem with WTITC’s international network, the accord aims to establish a bidirectional bridge enabling technology enterprises and entrepreneurs to access regional and global opportunities, whilst simultaneously opening new international channels for Sharjah-based innovators and businesses.

Makthala described the partnership as a platform enabling the global Telugu technology community’s capabilities, talent and companies to connect with Sharjah’s sophisticated research and innovation infrastructure. The arrangement simultaneously facilitates access to wider international markets for Sharjah-based technologies and businesses.

At its foundation, the partnership embodies a shared commitment to uniting innovation, talent and technology in developing solutions that generate meaningful global impact. Both organisations have pledged to pursue sustained international partnerships focused on research, technology advancement, innovation, investment and business expansion, thereby reinforcing Sharjah’s standing as a premier destination for global technology collaboration.
