Sheikh Maktoum Receives Chairman of CVC Marathon

His Highness the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai welcomes the global asset management leader to explore enhanced investment cooperation and the emirate's financial sector credentials.

His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, received Bruce Richards, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of CVC Marathon, at his office in a significant meeting that underscores Dubai’s prominence within the global financial ecosystem.

The distinguished gathering explored the evolving contours of international investment landscapes and identified compelling opportunities for deepened collaboration between the emirate and the global asset management sphere. CVC Marathon, a preeminent firm specialising in public and private credit markets, brings considerable expertise and resources to such partnerships, having amassed more than $24 billion in assets under management and invested over $250 billion since its establishment in 1998.

His Highness articulated Dubai’s comprehensive strategy for financial sector advancement, emphasising the emirate’s commitment to anticipating transformative market shifts, embracing technological innovation and cultivating opportunities that enable both established financial institutions and emerging enterprises to flourish. The dialogue underscored how Dubai’s sophisticated regulatory framework, world-class infrastructure and cohesive financial ecosystem inspire confidence among international investment firms, empowering them to expand operations, forge strategic partnerships and pursue ambitious growth trajectories within the region and beyond.

The meeting further highlighted the United Arab Emirates’ increasingly compelling appeal to international investors, a distinction grounded in the nation’s diversified economic foundation and its exceptional positioning as a vital gateway connecting regional and global markets. This strategic positioning has proven instrumental in attracting premier financial institutions and investment platforms seeking to establish or expand their presence in the Middle East.

CVC’s integration of Marathon Asset Management in July of this year represents a transformative development within the firm’s trajectory, strengthening its capabilities across the spectrum of private markets investment. The broader CVC organisation maintains a formidable global presence through 30 offices spanning major financial centres worldwide, with a dedicated presence at the Dubai International Financial Centre, reflecting the institution’s commitment to the emirate’s financial landscape.

The meeting was attended by Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority; and Essa Kazim, Governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre.
