Singapore and UAE forge deeper partnership across artificial intelligence, energy and advanced technology

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong of Singapore has engaged in high-level dialogue with Emirati leadership at Zayed National Museum, exploring expanded cooperation in strategic sectors that promise to strengthen energy security and foster innovation across both nations.

The bilateral business dialogue, hosted by Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, brought together senior officials and enterprise leaders from both Singapore and the United Arab Emirates to examine the considerable prospects for collaboration in artificial intelligence, advanced technology and energy.

Prime Minister Wong expressed enthusiasm for the substantive discussions held with leaders of major Emirati companies, observing that the engagement had explored meaningful opportunities to strengthen energy security, diversify supply chains and build resilience against future disruptions. He emphasised the shared commitment to these priorities and acknowledged the increasingly complex global landscape that renders such cooperation ever more vital. The Prime Minister noted that Singapore’s enterprises have already established robust partnerships within the UAE, and expressed confidence in the capacity to deepen these relationships further.

The UAE represents a particularly significant investment destination for Singapore within the Middle East region, with considerable scope for enhanced cooperation that would benefit the competitiveness of both economies. Beyond their bilateral engagement, both nations recognised the potential to collaborate in supporting businesses across Southeast Asia and the Gulf region in accessing fresh opportunities.

Khaldoon underscored the enduring and robust partnership that the UAE and Singapore have cultivated, founded upon shared priorities and a mutual dedication to innovation. He highlighted how the day’s discussions had illuminated the prospects for bringing together the respective strengths of both nations in artificial intelligence, advanced technology and energy, with the aim of translating these shared ambitions into tangible cooperation that would bolster energy security and unlock new investment possibilities for sustainable, long-term growth.

The engagement showcased presentations from Abu Dhabi’s most prominent institutions and enterprises, including G42, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, EDGE Group, ADNOC, Masdar and Emirates Nuclear Energy Company. These organisations presented leading projects and initiatives that demonstrated the sophisticated capabilities flourishing across these strategically significant sectors. G42 unveiled its comprehensive offering across the artificial intelligence value chain, whilst MBZUAI highlighted its emergence as a world-class research institution, advancing artificial intelligence for scientific discovery through its Institute of Foundation Models. In the energy sector, ADNOC reaffirmed its role as Singapore’s largest crude oil supplier, with expanding engagement in trading, investment and shipping, whilst Masdar demonstrated how its expertise in clean energy at scale might serve Asia’s expanding power requirements. Emirates Nuclear Energy Company explored pathways toward deepening cooperation in civil nuclear energy, with particular emphasis upon human capacity development and technical collaboration.

This engagement builds upon the longstanding bilateral relationship between the UAE and Singapore, underpinned by the Comprehensive Partnership established in 2019, and attended by Saeed Al Hajeri, Minister of State; Dr Abdulnasser AlShaali, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore; Kamal R. Vaswani, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the UAE; and senior officials from key government entities in both nations.
