Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council, has welcomed the European Parliament’s resolution calling for a unified European strategy to counter terrorist networks and their associated activities, representing a consequential step in strengthening international efforts to combat extremism and the threats these organisations pose to the security and stability of communities worldwide.

The Speaker emphasised that addressing such networks requires sustained and coordinated international action, with particular focus upon strengthening cooperation between nations, sharing critical information, restricting sources of funding, and dismantling activities that contribute to the propagation of extremism and destabilise regions.

Highlighting the resolution’s considerable significance, Mr Ghobash stressed the importance of translating this commitment into concrete, coordinated measures that expose these networks and illuminate their funding mechanisms, thereby limiting their capacity to exploit institutions and community based activities as vehicles for the spread of extremist ideology.

The Speaker underlined that protecting societies demands clear positions and resolute action to counter threats, all firmly grounded within the principles of the rule of law and international cooperation. He reaffirmed the paramount importance of strengthening international and parliamentary cooperation in the shared mission to combat extremism and terrorism.
