Syrian Finance Minister Mohammad Yisr Barnieh has reaffirmed his nation’s dedication to participating in the Council of Arab Finance Ministers, whilst commending the United Arab Emirates for its exemplary hospitality and steadfast backing of Arab institutional frameworks.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency on the margins of the Arab Monetary Fund’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in Abu Dhabi, Minister Barnieh highlighted the significance of the occasion in reflecting upon the Fund’s half-century trajectory. He noted the considerable institutional evolution witnessed by both the Arab Monetary Fund and the Council of Arab Finance Ministers throughout their respective histories.
The Syrian minister indicated that his attendance at these proceedings afforded valuable opportunities for substantive engagement with counterparts at the UAE Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of the UAE, and various other national institutions. These discussions, he suggested, underscore a promising outlook for enhanced bilateral cooperation between Syria and the Emirates.
Minister Barnieh expressed particular optimism regarding the expansion of economic and financial ties between the two nations, emphasising the mutual benefits such development would yield.
