The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam: Three Days of International Judo Excellence

Three days in late October will transform Mubadala Arena into the epicentre of international judo, as the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam returns to command the attention of the sport’s finest competitors. From 29 to 31 October 2026, the mat becomes a stage for the world’s top judoka to pursue glory, to refine their craft and to measure themselves against peers from across the globe. This is judo at its most compelling: the distilled essence of technique, strategy and human resolve.

The Grand Slam sits at the pinnacle of competitive judo, drawing elite athletes who are plotting their course through the sport’s most demanding calendar. Abu Dhabi has become synonymous with hosting events of this calibre, and the return of this championship reflects the Emirate’s deepening investment in martial arts as both a cultural pursuit and a beacon for international athletic excellence.

Running from 10:00 in the morning until 6:00 in the evening across all three days, the tournament offers an immersive experience of sport at the highest level. Spectators and competitors alike gather in an arena designed to showcase the intricate beauty of judo: the balance, the timing, the economy of movement that separates mastery from mere skill. Every throw, every hold, every moment of tactical brilliance unfolds in an environment where standards are uncompromising and talent is unmistakable.

For those who understand judo, this tournament represents far more than competition. It is a convergence of discipline and artistry, of athletes dedicating themselves to a martial tradition that demands both physical excellence and intellectual acuity. The Grand Slam is where reputations are forged and where the sport’s narrative is written.
