The Architecture of Community: A Distinguished Panel on Urban Futures
What alchemy transforms a city into a genuine community? This autumn, we are invited to contemplate this profound question at an elegant panel discussion convened by 421 Arts Campus, where distinguished leaders in urban planning, cultural policy and social entrepreneurship converge to explore the intricate relationship between spatial design and human thriving.
The conversation promises to be illuminating, drawing upon the expertise of speakers who have shaped the cultural and architectural landscape of our emirate. From the conception of cultural hubs and thoughtfully curated public spaces to the ambitious architectural projects that define our skyline, these visionary thinkers will share their insights into how such environments catalyse genuine human connection and community cohesion. Their discourse will venture into the future of urban environments, imagining how cities might continue to evolve as places where people not merely exist, but genuinely flourish.
The panel will be moderated by Dr. Pradeep Sharma, Director of the Arts, Culture and Heritage programme at the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation, whose leadership has been instrumental in nurturing the cultural vitality of Abu Dhabi. The discussions will be enriched by the perspectives of Khulood Al Atiyat, Deputy General Manager at MIZA Abu Dhabi; Dr. Alamira Reem Al Hashimi, General Manager of Madar_39; and Adina Hempel, Director of the Zayed Institute for Architecture, Heritage, and Arts, and Associate Professor at Zayed University.
Following the formal presentations, guests are warmly invited to remain for an audience question and answer session, offering an opportunity to engage directly with these remarkable speakers and to forge meaningful connections with fellow enthusiasts of urban culture and design.
This panel forms part of ‘The Localized Futures: Conversations’, a distinguished series presented in collaboration with afikra. The event takes place on 20 October from 6 PM to 8 PM, with free admission and conducted in English.
