The Nation's Pride: Sheikh Theyab Marks UAE Flag Day at Wahat Al Karama

H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan raises the national colours to honour the values of unity and determination that define the Emirates

Beneath the November sky, the UAE flag ascended at Wahat Al Karama as H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, raised the national colours to mark UAE Flag Day. The ceremony, organised by the Presidential Court, gathered representatives from the nation’s defence and security establishments, as well as humanitarian bodies, in a solemn expression of collective identity.

UAE Flag Day, observed annually on 3 November, offers the nation a moment to contemplate the ideals of solidarity and loyalty that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father, embedded within the nation’s character. The flag itself has come to represent far more than cloth and colour. It symbolises the UAE’s remarkable journey of development and the commitment to invest in people, empower youth and advance progress across all spheres of national life.

In his remarks, H.H. Sheikh Theyab affirmed that the national colours rise as a testament to the nation’s unwavering determination. He extended his congratulations to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and to Their Highnesses, Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates. He expressed his hopes that the UAE continues to flourish under its wise leadership.

The flag, as H.H. observed, stands as an image of unity and national identity, and embodies the nation’s commitment to continued endeavour and generosity. It carries the pride and honour of a people bound together by shared values and a common vision for progress.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

For Abu Dhabi and the broader UAE, Flag Day serves as an annual reaffirmation of the principles upon which the nation was founded. The ceremony at Wahat Al Karama, a site dedicated to preserving the memory of those who have served the nation, underscores the deep connection between patriotism, sacrifice and national pride that continues to shape Emirati society.

The gathering of representatives from defence, security and humanitarian sectors demonstrates how the nation’s institutions unite around shared national values. This collective participation reflects the cohesion that enables the UAE to pursue ambitious development goals whilst maintaining the solidarity that defines its character and identity.
