Two Souls, One Language

There exists a particular resonance when two voices speak as one, and it is this symbiotic harmony that lies at the heart of Contemplation, a new orchestral work by twin brothers Bechir and Mohamed Gharbi. The Tunisian musicians, both members of the UAE National Orchestra, have long understood that music transcends the boundaries we construct between cultures and continents.
Their collaboration weaves together the expressive depth of the oud with the lyrical elegance of the violin, two instruments that might seem worlds apart yet prove, in their hands, to be fundamentally aligned. The brothers draw from the musical heritage of their native Tunisia, where Arabic and Eastern melodies have always coexisted with the Mediterranean and Spanish influences that shaped the region’s sound. Through orchestral arrangement, these distinct musical languages converge into a singular, poetic narrative inspired by the bond between them.
Contemplation carries meaning beyond its melodies. The work embodies a philosophy that the Gharbi brothers hold dear: that music possesses an extraordinary capacity to draw people and cultures closer together. It is a message of openness, love and peace, expressed not through words but through the universal language of sound.
The world premiere takes place at the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, presented as part of One Big Family, a concert featuring the UAE National Orchestra. The evening invites families to experience the artistry of two brothers whose devotion to their craft mirrors the very values the occasion seeks to celebrate: connection, understanding and the bonds that unite us.
