UAE Advances Strategic Diplomacy at UN General Assembly High-Level Week
Emirati ministers engage in pivotal bilateral and multilateral discussions on the third day of the 81st UN General Assembly session, addressing global priorities from climate action to healthcare innovation.
The United Arab Emirates’ delegation has sustained its intensive engagement across multiple high-level forums during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, advancing the nation’s strategic interests and multilateral commitments.
Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, convened discussions with Alexander Stubb, President of Finland, exploring pathways to deepen bilateral cooperation. The meeting centred upon shared opportunities in energy, renewable technologies, and advanced industrial sectors—domains where both nations recognise mutual benefits and complementary expertise.
Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, participated in the 8th European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East, themed “Shaping the New Global Order: Africa, the Middle East and the Architecture of Tomorrow.” His contributions emphasised the strategic importance of fostering robust economic partnerships between Africa and the Middle East as cornerstones of global economic resilience. Dr. Al Zeyoudi subsequently engaged with leaders convened by the US-UAE Business Council, affirming the enduring strength and promising trajectory of the bilateral economic relationship.
Healthcare cooperation formed another significant strand of the UAE’s engagement. Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, alongside Dr. Maha Barakat, Assistant Minister for Health and Life Sciences, met with Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organisation, to advance collaborative dialogue on global health challenges and deepen the UAE’s institutional partnership with WHO.
The delegation attended the Future Health High-Level Dialogue, where the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to transforming health systems from reactive treatment models towards predictive and preventative frameworks. This approach harnesses data analytics, technological innovation, and international collaboration to deliver superior health outcomes globally.
Ministers also co-chaired a Roundtable on Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals, convening senior governmental and industrial figures to catalyse bilateral cooperation in healthcare innovation and pharmaceutical advancement.
Climate diplomacy remained paramount. Dr. Amna Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, delivered remarks at the High-Level Plenary Meeting on sea level rise threats, reaffirming the UAE’s solidarity with vulnerable nations and commitment to urgent collective climate action.
Regional peace efforts received equal emphasis. Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, participated in the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution ministerial session, co-hosted by Saudi Arabia, the European Union, and Norway. He reaffirmed the UAE’s unwavering commitment to a just and lasting Middle Eastern peace, and to implementing the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict as endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
Minister Al Marar attended both the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s Annual Ministerial Coordination Meeting and the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee Ministerial Meeting, emphasising throughout the UAE’s dedication to multilateral cooperation and unified international action addressing regional and global challenges.
Saeed Al Hajeri, Minister of State, attended the Annual Forum of Small States High-Level Reception, reinforcing the UAE’s solidarity with member nations and commitment to inclusive multilateralism.
