UAE and Moldova Chart Course for Strengthened Economic Partnership

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi convenes bilateral talks with Moldova's State Secretary to explore opportunities across trade, investment, renewable energy and digital innovation.

The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Moldova have identified compelling prospects for deepening their economic relationship, following high-level discussions held in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, received Corina Calugaru, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, to examine avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation across sectors of strategic importance to both nations.

The dialogue encompassed trade and investment frameworks, artificial intelligence applications, digital government initiatives, renewable energy development and educational collaboration. Particular emphasis was placed on encouraging UAE-based companies and investors to examine the investment landscape within Moldova, whilst exploring mechanisms to facilitate reciprocal commercial engagement.

Transportation infrastructure emerged as a priority, with both delegations recognising that enhanced air connectivity between the UAE and Moldova would catalyse tourism flows, business transactions and investment activity. Officials stressed the necessity for continued coordination between relevant governmental and institutional bodies to convert identified opportunities into concrete projects and initiatives benefiting both nations.

Dr. Al Zeyoudi highlighted the substantial potential inherent in strengthened cooperation across trade, investment, digital transformation, renewable energy and emerging sectors. He emphasised that such collaboration would enable private sector entities in both countries to forge innovative partnerships and explore commercially viable ventures, whilst reinforcing existing ties between their respective business communities.

The Minister underscored that enhanced air connectivity, institutional cooperation and the systematic exchange of expertise represent fundamental enablers for supporting commerce, investment flows and people-to-people connections between the UAE and Moldova.

Complementing the bilateral discourse, the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy and Moldova’s Diplomatic Institute formalised their commitment to collaborative engagement through the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement establishes a framework for reinforcing institutional cooperation, facilitating the exchange of expertise and knowledge within diplomatic training, and fostering capacity development between the two academies.
