Senior officials underscore the enduring impact of educators in shaping generations and instilling knowledge, values and character across the nation.
The United Arab Emirates has marked World Teachers’ Day with heartfelt recognition of the profound contribution educators make to the nation’s development and the lives of generations of students.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasised the critical importance of teachers in the UAE’s remarkable journey. Serving as Chairman of the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council, His Highness reflected on how educators have consistently left an indelible mark across successive generations, fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity and lifelong learning.
“Teachers have played an enduring role in the UAE’s journey, leaving an impact that carries from one generation to the next and instilling the value of knowledge and learning,” Sheikh Abdullah stated. “On World Teachers’ Day, we renew our appreciation for every teacher whose dedication has contributed to preparing generations who carry forward our nation’s ambitions and shape its future.”
H.H. Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-Chairperson of the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council, complemented these sentiments by highlighting education as a cornerstone of human flourishing. Her Highness articulated a vision of teachers as transformative figures who nurture far more than academic knowledge and technical skills.
“Education is a cornerstone of human development, enabling every student to discover their strengths, realise their potential, and grow into confident, capable, and active contributors to society,” Sheikha Mariam explained. Teachers, she noted, cultivate character, values, intellectual curiosity, resilience and a sense of responsibility towards others—qualities essential for navigating an evolving world.
The recognition underscores the UAE’s unwavering commitment to valuing those who dedicate their careers to educating young people. As the nation continues its trajectory of progress and prosperity, the nation’s leadership emphasises that this success is built upon the foundations laid by dedicated educators who inspire students to remain grounded in their identity whilst remaining equipped to embrace future challenges and opportunities.
