UAE President receives German Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy

UAE President receives German Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy

Her Excellency Katherina Reiche visits Abu Dhabi to advance the Strategic Partnership between the UAE and Germany across investment, energy and economic cooperation.

The corridors of power in Abu Dhabi witnessed the convergence of two nations committed to deepening their economic and strategic ties when UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Her Excellency Katherina Reiche, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The occasion carried the weight of diplomatic courtesy and substantive ambition. Her Excellency Reiche conveyed warm greetings from His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, and His Excellency Friedrich Merz, Federal Chancellor, together with their wishes for the UAE’s continued advancement and prosperity.

At the heart of the discussion lay the Strategic Partnership binding the two nations, a framework already proven robust through the tangible achievements of recent months. The deliberations ranged across the economic landscape, investment opportunities, and the dual energies that propel modern prosperity: conventional and renewable sources alike. Both nations recognise in each other a partner aligned on questions of technology, sustainability and shared growth.

The gathering reflected the seniority with which the UAE approaches such conversations. H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, attended alongside H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President. A cohort of ministers and officials completed the gathering, each presence a measure of the significance placed upon strengthening this European partnership.

The visit follows momentum established earlier this year. As we reported, the UAE President concluded a state visit to Germany in September 2026, during which he engaged with German business leaders on investment and innovation, and paid a formal visit to the German Bundestag to cement parliamentary cooperation. These encounters have laid fertile ground for the deepening of relations across multiple domains.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

The Strategic Partnership between the UAE and Germany represents far more than diplomatic courtesy. For Abu Dhabi, it signals an alignment with one of Europe’s leading economies and technological innovators at a moment when energy transition and sustainable development define the global agenda. Germany’s expertise in renewable energy and advanced manufacturing finds natural synergy with the UAE’s vision for economic diversification and carbon-conscious growth.

The emphasis placed on investment and economic cooperation underscores Abu Dhabi’s continued positioning as a gateway for international business and innovation. By strengthening ties with nations of Germany’s standing and capability, the emirate reinforces its role as a hub for global enterprise, attracting capital, talent and knowledge that will shape prosperity in the decades ahead.
