UAE strengthens Central Asian ties as Ambassador presents credentials in Tajikistan

Nasser Huwaiden Al Ketbi has formally presented his credentials as Ambassador to Tajikistan, signalling the UAE's commitment to deepening bilateral relations across the region.

The exchange of diplomatic credentials, one of the cornerstone rituals of international relations, took place in Dushanbe as Nasser Huwaiden Al Ketbi presented his credentials to Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan. The moment marked a formal affirmation of the UAE’s diplomatic presence and its intention to cultivate meaningful partnerships across Central Asia.

Al Ketbi conveyed the greetings of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with wishes for continued progress and prosperity for Tajikistan’s government and people. In his remarks, the Ambassador expressed his pride in representing the UAE, underscoring his commitment to enhancing bilateral relations across various fields and strengthening the ties between the two nations.

Muhriddin responded warmly to the occasion, welcoming Al Ketbi and extending greetings to H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Tajik Minister reaffirmed his country’s readiness to provide comprehensive support to facilitate the Ambassador’s mission and to advance relations between the two states. Both sides recognised the potential for deepened cooperation and discussed avenues for expanding collaboration that would serve the interests and aspirations of their respective peoples.

This credential ceremony follows the UAE’s broader strategic approach to expanding its diplomatic footprint across diverse regions. As we reported, the UAE has recently established diplomatic presence in Guyana, with Ambassador Muhannad Sulaiman Al Naqbi presenting credentials and establishing a framework for bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors. Similarly, the UAE formalised diplomatic ties in Togo, reflecting a consistent pattern of engaging with nations across multiple continents.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

The formal establishment of ambassadorial representation in Tajikistan enhances the UAE’s ability to engage with Central Asian markets and communities. This diplomatic infrastructure strengthens the country’s economic and cultural reach into a region of growing strategic importance, enabling the development of partnerships that extend across trade, investment and people-to-people exchange.

For the residents and institutions of Abu Dhabi, this expanded diplomatic presence creates new avenues for international collaboration and positions the emirate within an increasingly interconnected global network. The UAE’s commitment to bilateral relations with nations across diverse geographies reinforces its role as a bridge between regions and a partner in global development.
