Benoît Cosnefroy of UAE Team Emirates-XRG demonstrated exceptional climbing prowess to claim third place at the prestigious Giro del Veneto in Italy, benefiting from the strategic support of world champion teammate Brandon McNulty.
The cycling stage in Vicenza witnessed an outstanding performance from UAE Team Emirates-XRG, as Benoît Cosnefroy executed a formidable uphill sprint to secure a podium position at the Giro del Veneto on Wednesday. The French rider’s third-place finish exemplifies the team’s continued excellence across European competition, demonstrating the calibre of tactical acumen and collaborative endeavour that characterises the organisation.
Cosnefroy’s ascent was considerably strengthened by the astute support of his teammate and reigning world champion Brandon McNulty, whose presence in the rainbow jersey provided invaluable strategic guidance throughout the race. The synergy between the two riders showcased the sophisticated teamwork that underpins contemporary professional cycling, with McNulty’s tactical assistance proving instrumental in positioning Cosnefroy advantageously for the decisive closing stages.
Alessandro Covi of Jayco AlUla claimed victory with a time of 3:35:52, whilst Norway’s Anthon Charmig of Uno-X Mobility secured the runner-up position. Despite finishing outside the top spot, Cosnefroy expressed considerable satisfaction with the outcome, acknowledging the exceptional contribution of his teammates throughout the endeavour. He reflected that alternative strategic decisions during the final climb might have yielded a maiden victory, yet remained characteristically gracious about the result.
Looking forward, Cosnefroy has set his sights on the concluding European fixture scheduled for Sunday, where UAE Team Emirates-XRG will mount a renewed challenge for victory. The rider’s evident determination, coupled with the continued support of his accomplished teammates, suggests the squad remains well-positioned to secure further distinguished results as the European racing calendar reaches its culmination.
