Helal Alalawi's thoroughbred secures prestigious Group 1 victory at ParisLongchamp, reinforcing the Emirates' standing in international equestrian sport

The UAE racing fraternity has celebrated another significant milestone on the world stage, with HM Alchahine claiming victory in the Qatar Arabian World Cup at ParisLongchamp during the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe meeting on Sunday, 4th October.

Owned by Helal Alalawi and trained by acclaimed French horsewoman Élisabeth Bernard, the thoroughbred demonstrated exceptional form over the 2,000-metre distance, securing the Group 1 prize worth €1 million. Italian jockey Cristian Demuro’s skilful navigation of the race proved decisive, with HM Alchahine crossing the line three-quarters of a length ahead of the field, completing the course in an impressive 2:13.84.

Al Shaqab Racing’s Hajmah secured the runner-up position, whilst Wathnan Racing’s Chdia completed the podium in third place. The victory ceremony at ParisLongchamp saw trophies presented to owner Helal Alalawi, his son and trainer Tahnoon Alalawi, Bernard and Demuro.

Tahnoon Alalawi reflected on the significance of the achievement, noting that HM Alchahine’s international triumph adds further lustre to the UAE’s growing reputation in horse racing circles. The victory exemplified the calibre of Emirati-owned racing talent competing at the highest echelons of European competition.

The trainer highlighted the seamless coordination between horse and jockey throughout the contest, with HM Alchahine’s well-judged effort in a fiercely contested field showcasing both tactical acumen and equine excellence. The comfortable margin of victory underscored the quality of the performance against an elite international field.
