A landmark collaboration aims to enhance rehabilitation services and support the independence and social inclusion of People of Determination across the Emirates through specialised medical programmes and workforce development initiatives.

The Zayed Authority for People of Determination has established a strategic partnership with Canadian Medical Centre, marking a significant expansion of healthcare and rehabilitation services tailored to the needs of People of Determination. The Memorandum of Understanding was formalised by Abdullah Abdulali Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of the Zayed Authority, and Mubarak Faleh Hamoud Jarrah Al Qahtani, General Manager of Canadian Medical Centre, at the Authority’s Abu Dhabi headquarters.

This collaboration represents a measured advancement in the Authority’s broader mission to strengthen cooperation with specialised medical institutions and elevate service standards through evidence-based practices in rehabilitation and clinical care. The partnership encompasses a comprehensive programme focused on the assessment and management of scoliosis and postural disorders, disciplines requiring sophisticated medical expertise and precision orthopaedic intervention.

Clinical Services and Specialist Support

Canadian Medical Centre will undertake detailed clinical evaluations encompassing postural analysis, gait assessment and spinal alignment evaluation. The Centre will design, fabricate and fit customised orthotic devices manufactured from premium medical-grade materials, whilst also providing two hundred pairs of specialist medical footwear. Additional services include podiatry and chiropractic care, addressing the multifaceted healthcare requirements of beneficiaries.

Beyond immediate clinical interventions, the partnership encompasses structured training and rehabilitation programmes designed to enhance employment readiness among People of Determination, facilitating their transition into the labour market and promoting economic participation.

Building an Inclusive Future

Abdullah Abdulali Al Humaidan underscored the partnership’s alignment with the UAE leadership’s vision of fostering societal inclusivity. He characterised the collaboration as instrumental in establishing an integrated ecosystem of coordinated healthcare and rehabilitation services, thereby delivering enhanced and sustainable provision that directly addresses the distinctive requirements of People of Determination. The Secretary-General emphasised that investment in the health and capabilities of this population constitutes investment in a more inclusive and equitable future.

Mubarak Faleh Hamoud Jarrah Al Qahtani highlighted Canadian Medical Centre’s commitment to deploying its considerable medical expertise in managing scoliosis and postural disorders, orthotic innovation and podiatry services. He noted the Centre’s enthusiasm for supporting capacity-building initiatives and collaborative programmes that align with the UAE’s commitment to developing a comprehensive and sustainable healthcare ecosystem.

The initiative reflects the emirate’s strategic prioritisation of accessible, high-quality healthcare and the empowerment of all residents through evidence-based medical rehabilitation and inclusive employment pathways.
