The Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council, in partnership with Huawei, has celebrated the graduation of 37 UAE nationals from the second cohort of the Nafis International Programme, marking a significant achievement in the nation’s commitment to developing technological excellence and nurturing homegrown talent.
The graduating cohort, comprising recent university graduates and final-year students specialising in technology-related disciplines, have completed an immersive two-month training programme blending domestic instruction with practical experience at Huawei’s facilities in Shenzhen, China. The comprehensive initiative concentrated on emerging technology domains including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, big data and 5G networks, equipping participants with the sophisticated skill sets demanded by tomorrow’s innovation economy.
Throughout four weeks of specialised training conducted within the UAE, participants engaged with cutting-edge technical curricula before undertaking a further four weeks of applied training at Huawei’s research and development centres. Beyond technical mastery, the programme cultivated leadership capabilities, facilitated the development of professional networks and afforded participants invaluable international exposure through visits to premier technology and innovation hubs. All graduates achieved the Huawei Certified ICT Associate certification, a distinguished credential that substantially enhances their competitiveness within the global employment market.
Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council, characterised the graduation as a pivotal milestone within the nation’s broader endeavour to cultivate Emirati capability for the emerging economy. He emphasised that the programme’s distinctive strength lay in its seamless integration of technical knowledge, practical application and exposure to international best practices, thereby equipping graduates with the multifaceted competencies essential for competing within rapidly evolving technological sectors.
David Li, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei UAE, underscored the strategic significance of the partnership, reflecting the technology sector’s profound commitment to investing in young Emirati talent. He reaffirmed Huawei’s unwavering dedication to supporting initiatives that strengthen national capabilities in technology and innovation, recognising the mutual benefits of fostering technological excellence within the region.
This initiative represents a cornerstone of the UAE’s strategic vision to establish itself as a global technology and innovation hub, directly supporting the nation’s National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 and the broader objective of constructing a knowledge and innovation-driven digital economy that shall secure the nation’s continued prosperity and global prominence.
