National Drug Enforcement Authority and UAE University forge partnership for youth protection

Senior leadership from the National Drug Enforcement Authority and the United Arab Emirates University have committed to collaborative efforts encompassing scientific research, specialised studies and awareness initiatives designed to safeguard young people from the perils of substance abuse.
In a significant demonstration of institutional cooperation, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National Drug Enforcement Authority, and Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, have outlined an ambitious partnership framework encompassing multiple dimensions of drug prevention and awareness.
The discussions, which took place during a comprehensive meeting between the two organisations, encompassed scientific research collaboration, the development of specialised studies, the implementation of student awareness programmes and the facilitation of meaningful knowledge exchange. The delegation from the university included Ahmed Ali Alraeesi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, whilst Rashid Hamad Al Shamsi, Director-General of the National Drug Enforcement Authority, was also present.
During the engagement, the visiting delegation received an illuminating briefing on the authority’s multifaceted responsibilities, its comprehensive drug prevention and awareness programmes, and the national and international strategic efforts undertaken to combat drug abuse across the emirates and beyond.
Sheikh Zayed reaffirmed the National Drug Enforcement Authority’s steadfast commitment to cultivating and expanding partnerships with academic and research institutions throughout the nation. This collaborative approach serves to strengthen evidence-based decision-making processes whilst simultaneously supporting the development of innovative awareness programmes specifically designed to resonate with and educate young people.
Nusseibeh expressed his profound appreciation for the authority’s dedicated efforts to address the challenges posed by drug abuse within our communities. He emphasised the paramount importance of forging robust academic partnerships in elevating awareness among young people through the implementation of sustainable initiatives that fundamentally support both community security and long-term stability.
