UAE Golf Teams Head to Cairo for Premier Arab Championship

National squads depart for Egypt to compete across youth, junior and girls' divisions in week-long regional tournament

The UAE National Golf teams are embarking on a competitive journey to Cairo, Egypt, where they will represent the nation at the Arab Golf Championship for Youth, Juniors, U13s and Girls. The tournament runs from 6 to 11 October 2026, bringing together the region’s most promising young golfing talent across two prestigious venues: Madinaty Golf Club and Mirage Golf Club.

Leading the UAE delegation is Major General Pilot (Ret.) Abdullah Al Sayed Al Hashemi, President of the Emirates Golf Federation, accompanied by Khalid Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Federation, and national team coach Faycal Serghini. This leadership structure underscores the significance with which the Federation approaches the championship and its commitment to nurturing excellence in the sport.

The UAE’s competitive representation spans multiple categories, demonstrating the breadth of golfing talent being cultivated domestically. The Girls’ U21 team comprises Sara Ali and Aassiya Saleem, whilst the U13 division features Zayed Ali, Zayed Al Mazmi and Saif Lootah. Individual competitors include Neyl Cherrat in the U21 category and Mohammed Thabet in the Boys’ U18 competition.

The championship represents a significant opportunity for these emerging athletes to test their capabilities against leading young golfers throughout the Arab world and to pursue competitive honours in both team and individual formats. The participation of UAE teams reflects the Emirates Golf Federation’s strategic emphasis on maintaining a robust presence within regional and international sporting arenas, whilst simultaneously providing pathway opportunities for promising Emirati players to develop their craft at an elevated competitive level.

Although several players are unable to participate owing to academic and personal commitments, the delegation selected demonstrates the Federation’s commitment to balancing sporting excellence with the broader developmental needs of its competitors.
