Sharjah Chamber Concludes Prestigious Oxford and Cambridge Leadership Programme

The Sharjah Training and Development Center has successfully completed an integrated strategic leadership initiative hosted at two of the world's most renowned universities, equipping professionals from government and private sectors with contemporary skills for navigating technological transformation.

The Sharjah Training and Development Center (STDC), operating under the auspices of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), has concluded a transformative Oxford and Cambridge Strategic Leadership Programme designed for professionals across government and private-sector organisations in the Emirate.

The initiative represents a significant commitment to international professional development, combining rigorous academic instruction with practical exposure to leading institutions. Participants benefited from an immersive learning experience that encompassed workshops, leadership seminars, institutional visits, and cultural enrichment activities, all conducted at Lady Margaret Hall within the University of Oxford and complementary venues at Cambridge.

The curriculum addressed contemporary challenges facing modern organisations, with particular emphasis on leadership within artificial intelligence contexts, digital workplace transformation, corporate governance, organisational change management, and strategic decision-making frameworks. Additional focus areas included leadership identity development, organisational culture dynamics, industrial sustainability principles, and cybersecurity considerations within AI-enabled environments.

A distinctive feature of the programme involved practical engagement with internationally recognised institutions. Participants toured the BMW MINI manufacturing facility in Oxford, visited Oxford University Press, and experienced the Moller Institute at Churchill College, Cambridge, supplemented by educational and cultural exploration of both university cities.

Maryam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General of the Support Services Sector at SCCI, emphasised that the programme reflects institutional commitment to contemporary professional development that strengthens leadership capabilities and prepares leaders for workplace evolution. She highlighted the value of international engagement in facilitating knowledge exchange and best practice transfer, thereby enhancing organisational performance and supporting institutional excellence.

Amal Abdullah Al Ali, Director of STDC, affirmed the centre’s dedication to creating comprehensive international learning experiences that transcend conventional training methodologies. She explained that the programme was deliberately structured to integrate contemporary leadership knowledge with practical application and direct exposure to world-leading institutional practices.

The thematic focus on artificial intelligence, technological transformation, sustainability, governance, and change management reflects recognition that modern leaders must develop greater agility and future-readiness. This positioning enables professionals to anticipate emerging developments and generate meaningful organisational impact through effective data analysis, enhanced decision-making, process optimisation, service acceleration, and judicious adoption of digital tools appropriate to individual sectoral requirements.

The programme concluded with a formal ceremony honouring participants, who expressed strong appreciation for the curriculum content and delivery. The week-long engagement has been designed to facilitate translation of acquired knowledge into practical application, support efficient resource utilisation, and strengthen data protection and digital asset safeguarding—foundations of stakeholder and customer confidence.
