Dubai Police Launch Interactive Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign at Dubai Mall

The General Department of Criminal Investigation has established an engaging platform to educate visitors about digital threats and safe online practices during October's Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

The e-Crimes and Cybersecurity Department of Dubai Police’s General Department of Criminal Investigation has unveiled an innovative interactive awareness platform at Dubai Mall, designed to enhance community understanding of contemporary cyber threats. Operating through 10th October, the initiative forms part of a broader electronic crime awareness campaign led by the Ministry of Interior in partnership with Dubai Police and the Dubai Electronic Security Center, operating under the campaign banner “UAE is Safe With Your Digital Awareness”.

The platform presents visitors with a comprehensive overview of various electronic crime typologies and the sophisticated methods employed by fraudsters to compromise personal finances. Through a carefully curated experience combining educational gaming elements with artificial intelligence technologies, the initiative delivers an intellectually engaging journey that reinforces essential cybersecurity principles and responsible digital behaviour. The platform addresses critical contemporary concerns, including deepfake technology, safeguarding children from online exploitation, and protecting sensitive personal information.

A central focus of the awareness initiative involves introducing visitors to the official eCrime reporting platform, accessible at http://www.ecrime.ae. This dedicated digital service streamlines the reporting process for electronic crimes, receiving complaints relating to electronic extortion, unauthorised hacking, financial fraud and unlawful credit card usage. The reporting mechanism operates with user-friendly functionality, requiring visitors to select their relevant crime category, confirm contact details via text message verification, and submit comprehensive complaint information.

The platform also highlights the eCrime Hub (https://ecrimehub.gov.ae), a bilingual resource addressing all dimensions of cyber prevention and fraud detection. The comprehensive portal serves diverse demographic segments, encompassing children and parents, individual citizens, entrepreneurs, employees, and active social media and internet users across the Emirates.

This initiative underscores the commitment of Dubai’s law enforcement authorities to cultivating digital literacy amongst residents and visitors, whilst simultaneously strengthening the protective infrastructure that safeguards the emirate’s citizens from evolving cyber threats.
