Diplomatic Academy and Sports Medicine Centre Join Forces to Elevate UAE’s Global Sporting Presence
A strategic partnership between the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy and the UAE Sports Science and Sports Medicine Center will equip athletes and delegations with enhanced diplomatic and communication skills for international competition.
The Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy and the UAE Sports Science and Sports Medicine Center have formalised a Memorandum of Cooperation designed to harness sport as an instrument of national diplomacy and cultural exchange. The agreement was executed under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports, with Ghanim Mubarak Al Hajeri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports and Chairman of the UAE Sports Science and Sports Medicine Center, presiding over the signing ceremony.
Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director General of the Academy, and Dr. Ziad Amir Saleh, Board Member and Executive Director of the Centre, signed the memorandum, establishing a comprehensive framework for collaboration across multiple dimensions of international sporting engagement.
Mr. Al Hajeri articulated the strategic significance of the partnership, emphasising that sport transcends competitive achievement to function as a powerful vehicle for advancing the nation’s soft power and international standing. The cooperation will introduce specialised training programmes designed to equip athletes, coaches and delegations with the professional capabilities required to represent the UAE at major international events with enhanced diplomatic sophistication.
Central to the initiative is the development of media capabilities and cultural literacy among those representing the nation abroad. By deepening understanding of diverse cultural contexts, UAE representatives will be positioned to communicate with confidence and professionalism, reinforcing the nation’s positive reputation within the global sporting community.
Dr. Al Dhaheri underscored sport’s capacity to foster meaningful dialogue and engagement across cultural boundaries. Through this partnership, the Academy’s expertise in diplomatic training will strengthen the communication and dialogue capabilities of sports professionals and delegations, whilst broadening their comprehension of international affairs and cultural diversity. This multifaceted approach aims to empower representatives to forge meaningful relationships and embody the UAE’s values on the world stage.
The agreement encompasses joint specialised training programmes, capacity development for Emirati professionals, and support for initiatives leveraging sport as a bridge between nations. The parties will additionally organise workshops and events promoting cross-cultural understanding through sporting endeavours, whilst supporting advancement in sports science and sports medicine.
