Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Directs Development Initiative for Dalma Island in Partnership with Sirh Group
The Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region has outlined an ambitious programme of infrastructure and community projects for Dalma Island, following discussions with Sirh Group leadership on advancing regional development.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, has received a delegation from Sirh Group, headed by Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamsi, to discuss comprehensive development initiatives across the region and particularly on Dalma Island.
During the meeting at Al Nakheel Palace, Sheikh Hamdan reviewed the Group’s AED100 million community support programme spanning five years, which encompasses festivals, sports, youth development, environmental conservation and heritage preservation across Al Dhafra Region.
The discussions centred on Sirh Group’s existing initiatives on Dalma Island, where approximately half of the Group’s shareholders reside. Current efforts include provision of heavy equipment for community use, establishment of a local office, and the launch of the “Sinyar Dalma” initiative to facilitate transportation of construction materials to the island in support of Emirati families.
Strategic Infrastructure Projects
Following the briefing, His Highness directed the implementation of several significant development projects in cooperation with Sirh Group. These encompass the establishment of an ice factory addressing specific resident requirements, comprehensive refurbishment of Dalma Motel to enhance visitor facilities and services, and creation of an industrial zone featuring light industrial units, compact warehouses and workers’ accommodation.
The development programme further includes establishment of a vehicle maintenance workshop to provide essential services locally, reducing the necessity for residents to travel to the mainland for routine automotive maintenance.
His Highness emphasised the critical importance of coordinated efforts between public and private sectors in meeting the needs of island residents and strengthening their stability. He praised Sirh Group’s commitment to community development, acknowledging the comprehensive progress occurring throughout Al Dhafra Region under the continued patronage of UAE leadership, directed by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Captain Al Shamsi expressed his gratitude for His Highness’s strategic directives and sustained support, reaffirming Sirh Group’s commitment to close coordination with the Office of the Ruler’s Representative to ensure successful project implementation and continued service to Dalma Island’s residents.
