Ethiopian Leaders Study UAE's AI-Driven Governance Model

Senior Emirati officials showcase the nation's artificial intelligence expertise to Ethiopian government delegates, reinforcing the UAE's commitment to international knowledge-sharing and institutional modernisation.

The Government Experience Exchange Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs has welcomed Ethiopian government officials participating in a specialised artificial intelligence leadership programme, reflecting the deepening ties between the two nations in the sphere of contemporary governance.

Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, underscored the strategic importance of cultivating human capital within government institutions. He observed that artificial intelligence represents a transformative force in how modern administrations function, and that successful navigation of this shift depends fundamentally upon investing in leadership development and creating a cadre of officials equipped with sophisticated technological understanding.

The Minister articulated the UAE’s principled approach to international partnership, noting that the exchange of knowledge and institutional experience serves to accelerate governmental development across borders. He emphasised that through collaborative frameworks, nations can build more responsive, efficient and forward-thinking administrative models capable of responding to emergent challenges.

The AI Executive Leadership Programme, conducted in partnership with Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, has afforded Ethiopian delegates exposure to fifteen prominent Emirati institutions and organisations at the forefront of artificial intelligence adoption and implementation. Participants have engaged with entities ranging from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Artificial Intelligence Office to the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, as well as organisations specialising in digital service delivery and transformation initiatives.

The curriculum combines theoretical instruction, practical application through workshops, and structured visits to operational centres, ensuring participants grasp both the strategic dimensions of AI governance and its concrete applications within institutional settings. The programme addresses AI strategies, governmental deployment methodologies, governance frameworks and institutional capacity building.

This initiative forms part of the broader UAE-Ethiopia strategic partnership in government modernisation, which was formally established in 2023. The partnership has demonstrated substantial impact, delivering 1,224 workshops comprising more than one million combined training hours and reaching more than 5.3 million trainees across the two nations.
