National Media Authority and TikTok Foster Next Generation of Arab Media Excellence

A collaborative training initiative brings together emerging talent from across the Arab world to master digital storytelling and content creation

The National Media Authority, in partnership with TikTok, has conducted an enriching training session designed to cultivate the skills of promising young media professionals participating in the eighth edition of the Young Arab Media Leaders Programme. Orchestrated by the Arab Youth Centre from late September through mid-October, this multifaceted initiative convenes talented individuals from throughout the Arab region with a shared commitment to advancing contemporary media practice.

The programme addresses the imperative of developing digital content creation capabilities whilst fostering a nuanced understanding of storytelling through short-form video formats, live streaming technologies and sophisticated digital tools. Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Vice Chairman of the National Media Authority, underscored the strategic importance of investing in emerging media talent as fundamental to cultivating responsible and influential Arab media. He emphasised that aligning media education with technological evolution and industry requirements empowers young practitioners to produce content of genuine credibility, content that authentically reflects cultural identity and community values whilst employing innovative distribution methodologies to reach diverse audiences.

The Vice Chairman further highlighted how collaborations with leading digital platforms facilitate practical experience and demystify the nuances of content creation and distribution systems. By integrating technical proficiency with professional integrity, participants develop the discernment to authenticate information, sustain audience confidence and establish enduring media presence in an increasingly complex information ecosystem.

Kinda Ibrahim, General Manager of Content Operations at TikTok for the EMEA region, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with both the National Media Authority and the Arab Youth Centre. She articulated the partnership’s core objective: equipping participants with indispensable competencies and technological resources to articulate their narratives, celebrate their cultural expressions and communicate meaningfully with audiences. Ibrahim emphasised that the session delivers practical guidance in content creation and audience interaction whilst cultivating responsible engagement with digital innovation. TikTok’s commitment to nurturing a generation of Arab media professionals who seamlessly blend creative vision with editorial credibility remains unwavering, she affirmed.

The training curriculum concentrated upon three fundamental dimensions: the art of crafting compelling short-form video narratives; the strategic deployment of live-streaming capabilities to cultivate engaged online communities; and the platform’s commercial instruments for facilitating brand development and deepening audience relationships. The session further exemplified exemplary practices for producing imaginative yet conscientious content, thereby preparing young Arab media leaders to navigate the continually evolving landscape of digital media with sophistication and purpose.
