Sharjah Convenes 16th ALECGS Board of Trustees Meeting

The Arabic Language Educational Centre for Gulf States held its sixteenth board gathering in Sharjah, reviewing strategic initiatives and celebrating the centre's contributions to Arabic language education across the region.
Sharjah has hosted the sixteenth meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Arabic Language Educational Centre for Gulf States, an esteemed institution within the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States. The gathering brought together distinguished representatives from across the bureau’s member states to deliberate upon matters of profound significance to Arabic language education throughout the Gulf region.
The meeting was presided over by Bodour Ibrahim Al Badi Al Naqbi, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, who extended a gracious welcome to assembled board members and celebrated their steadfast commitment and contributions throughout the current term. Her remarks emphasised the centre’s considerable progress and underscored the vital importance of sustained coordination amongst member states in advancing Arabic language education and fostering programmes dedicated to linguistic excellence and cultural enrichment.
Dr Eisa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of the Centre, expressed profound gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his unwavering patronage of the institution, including the provision of distinguished independent headquarters and comprehensive operational facilities. Dr Al Hammadi also conveyed appreciation to the UAE Ministry of Education for its generous hosting of the meeting and steadfast support in advancing the centre’s programmes across the region.
The board undertook a comprehensive review of recommendations and decisions emanating from previous sessions, scrutinising progress in their implementation with meticulous attention. Deliberations encompassed an examination of the executive framework governing strategic initiatives and programmes of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States and its affiliated centres for the forthcoming 2026-2030 period, with particular emphasis upon initiatives designed to strengthen and enhance Arabic language teaching and learning methodologies.
The gathering also celebrated the centre’s substantial achievements during the 2025-2026 session, spanning from April twenty-eighth through October fifth, 2026. Board members acknowledged the successful implementation of approved programmes alongside the realisation of diverse activities and initiatives extending beyond the formal schedule, demonstrating the centre’s remarkable breadth and the sophisticated range of its scientific, educational and cultural endeavours.
Board members emphasised the imperative of continued programme development aligned with the strategic vision of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, calling for enhanced coordination amongst member states to strengthen Arabic language education and elevate educational practices throughout the region. The board also turned attention to forthcoming initiatives, including the sixth edition of the Gulf Arabic Language Competitions, whilst confirming scheduling arrangements for the board’s subsequent convening.
As the meeting concluded, board members commended the centre’s diligent implementation of its programmes and initiatives, reaffirming the significance of sustained institutional cooperation amongst Gulf states in fortifying the position of the Arabic language and reinforcing its indispensable role in cultural identity and collective belonging.
