Sharjah Crown Prince to inaugurate Consultative Council legislative session

H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi will formally open the fourth ordinary session of the Sharjah Consultative Council's eleventh legislative term, following a particularly productive preceding session marked by comprehensive parliamentary oversight and substantive legislative achievement.

H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, will open the fourth ordinary session of the Sharjah Consultative Council on Thursday, 15th October 2026, pursuant to Emiri Decree No. 51 of 2026 issued by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The forthcoming session represents a continuation of the Council’s robust legislative programme during its eleventh term, building upon an exceptionally productive third ordinary session that demonstrated the institution’s unwavering commitment to comprehensive governance and community representation.

Parliamentary achievements and oversight

During its third ordinary session, the Council conducted 18 plenary sessions encompassing thorough deliberation and constructive dialogue, with particular emphasis upon oversight functions. The Council undertook rigorous examinations of six significant government entities: the Roads and Transport Authority, the Department of Town Planning and Survey, the Department of Public Works, the Department of Human Resources, the Real Estate Registration Department, and the Districts Affairs Department.

The Council’s members engaged in substantive parliamentary activity, with participants registering a combined total of 194 meaningful interventions. These contributions included 173 direct questions directed to government officials and bodies, generating 38 substantial recommendations that thoughtfully addressed community needs and aspirations whilst engaging with contemporary challenges through forward-thinking governance.

Legislative accomplishment

The Council’s legislative authority proved particularly effective during the recent session, with five draft laws submitted by the Executive Council examined and approved. Each proposal underwent meticulous consideration, with drafting processes designed to advance development initiatives and reinforce justice throughout the emirate’s governance structures.

This upcoming session continues the Council’s tradition of substantive deliberation and meaningful contribution to Sharjah’s administrative and legislative frameworks, reflecting the emirate’s commitment to participatory governance and representative democracy.
