Dubai’s Remarkable Trajectory Continues with AED2.1 Trillion in Active Projects

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has affirmed Dubai's unwavering commitment to expansion and development, with an unprecedented portfolio of strategic initiatives spanning housing, transportation, aviation and infrastructure across multiple sectors.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, has reaffirmed the emirate’s commitment to sustained growth and development during the inaugural Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum. The premier annual gathering, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, convened one thousand key leaders from government and the private sector, together with distinguished experts, decision-makers and academics.

The occasion showcased Dubai’s extraordinary momentum, with His Highness highlighting the remarkable portfolio of nearly AED2.1 trillion in active projects currently underway. This comprehensive pipeline spans the full breadth of modern urban development, encompassing residential housing, sophisticated transportation networks, aviation infrastructure, and essential utility systems designed to support the emirate’s continued expansion.

Articulating Dubai’s vision for the coming decade, His Highness stated: “Dubai is building a city within a city. Today we have AED2.1 trillion in active projects underway, with more to be announced in the coming phase. Our momentum is continuous and our achievements are ongoing. This is a remarkable period for growth and development; the ideal time to invest in Dubai and its infrastructure.”

The strategic initiatives encompass an ambitious real estate programme allocating AED1.1 trillion through 2030, alongside transformative aviation expansion. The Al Maktoum International Airport, designed to accommodate up to 260 million passengers annually, receives AED128 billion in investment, whilst AED328 billion supports the expansion of the Emirates and flydubai fleets. The new Emirates engineering and maintenance complex commands a dedicated allocation of AED18.7 billion.

Beyond aviation, the portfolio includes AED100 billion for Phase 2 development of the Dubai International Financial Centre, AED100 billion for road upgrades and metro expansion, and AED151 billion for new power and water grid infrastructure. The emirate’s sewerage infrastructure benefits from AED80 billion for the Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system and AED30 billion for the Tasreef rainwater drainage initiative. Environmental stewardship receives AED4 billion through the Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap, whilst the Dubai Exhibition Centre expansion commands AED10 billion.

Complementing these infrastructure investments, Dubai’s housing sector plans encompass the delivery of approximately 350,000 residential units, positioned to accommodate population growth whilst maintaining the highest standards of living and working environments.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum represents a pivotal initiative in institutionalising leadership excellence across Dubai’s institutions and entities. The gathering emphasises collective strategic thinking, facilitates the exchange of insights and best practices, and positions Dubai’s leaders at the centre of global transformation, embodying the emirate’s forward-looking governance philosophy.
