Mubadala charts course through evolving global investment landscape

The Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund reaffirms its commitment to capitalising on worldwide opportunities whilst navigating geopolitical complexities and building enduring strategic partnerships.
Mubadala Investment Company has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to deploying capital across global markets, pursuing carefully identified investment opportunities and cultivating productive long-term partnerships that generate sustainable, risk-adjusted returns. The declaration emerged during the institution’s participation in the Bloomberg New Economy Forum 2026 in New Delhi, a prestigious gathering that convened government officials, business leaders, investors and policymakers from across the globe.
Waleed Al Muhairi, Deputy Group CEO of Mubadala, participated in a panel discussion entitled “The World, Repriced”, which examined the profound transformations reshaping the global economic landscape. The conversation explored how geopolitical shifts, the restructuring of international supply chains and intensifying technological competition present both formidable challenges and compelling opportunities for investors navigating an increasingly complex environment.
Al Muhairi articulated Mubadala’s philosophical approach to contemporary investment dynamics, emphasising that increasing geopolitical and economic fragmentation represents not a transient phenomenon but rather an enduring structural reality. “We don’t view the increasing global fragmentation as a short-term blip,” he explained, “It is a new normal for the next five, 10 or 15 years, which is the extent of the horizon over which we can reasonably view the world.”
The Deputy Group CEO highlighted India as a exemplary market offering compelling long-term investment potential, citing the nation’s favourable demographic profile, accelerating technology adoption, substantial infrastructure development programmes and deepening capital markets as instrumental drivers of Mubadala’s long-term investment conviction. He emphasised that India’s scale, technological capabilities and ambitious infrastructure initiatives position the country as an increasingly significant destination for the sovereign wealth fund’s capital allocation strategy.
Al Muhairi underscored the imperative of basing investment decisions upon rigorous economic fundamentals and the distinctive competitive advantages inherent to individual markets, rather than upon geopolitical positioning. “We’ve recognised that it’s not about being in one camp or the other,” he stated. “It’s about investing where you see opportunity, in a world where different countries have different strengths and competitive advantages.”
The institution’s strategy remains anchored upon disciplined capital deployment, judicious portfolio diversification and the cultivation of robust partnerships essential for navigating global transformations whilst identifying opportunities emerging from economic and technological evolution. Mubadala’s engagement at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum reflects its ongoing commitment to participating in international economic discourse, exchanging insights with global business leaders and policymakers, and identifying pathways to support sustainable growth amid transformative change.
