Jahiziyah Establishes Advisory Council to Advance Intensive Care Excellence

The UAE National Programme for Medical Preparedness and Response has launched a specialised council to elevate critical care training and disaster response capabilities across the Emirates.
The UAE National Programme for Medical Preparedness and Response, Jahiziyah, has announced the establishment of the UAE Advisory Council for Intensive Care, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s commitment to medical excellence and healthcare preparedness. This strategic initiative represents a purposeful advancement in cultivating a unified, nationally coordinated system for specialised training in critical care and emergency medicine.
The Council shall provide comprehensive scientific guidance for the development of clinical curricula whilst facilitating the exchange of international expertise through a carefully curated multidisciplinary advisory network. This foundational step follows the successful completion of an inaugural pilot phase, during which approximately 1,000 medical professionals received training utilising accredited American and European scientific curricula encompassing critical care and disaster medicine.
The forthcoming phase of development encompasses an ambitious expansion of advanced training programmes, extending these offerings to encompass private healthcare institutions alongside the public sector. This integrated approach shall establish specialised training pathways in resuscitation and mass casualty management, ensuring both the judicious expansion of clinical services and the cultivation of comprehensive capacity to address sudden surges in patient demand during health crises and catastrophic events.
Dr. Adel Abdullah Abdulaziz Al-Shamri Al-Ajmi, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative and leader of Jahiziyah, articulated that the Council’s launch represents a transformative phase in the evolution towards advanced, specialised professional development. The initiative endeavours to synthesise Western models of medical education with the development of national talent, thereby cultivating medical professionals capable of contributing substantially to medical education and institutional development throughout the Emirates.
The Council shall additionally pursue the development of research initiatives and scientific conferences whilst establishing a comprehensive professional network designed to address training gaps and reinforce national preparedness for emergency response. This multifaceted approach reflects a sophisticated understanding of the essential elements required to maintain healthcare systems of the highest calibre.
