UAE Prosecutors Engage in Regional Excellence Initiative on Combating Human Trafficking

The State Public Prosecution participates in a comprehensive regional training course convened in Qatar, reinforcing the nation's commitment to sophisticated prosecutorial practices and the protection of human dignity.

The State Public Prosecution has undertaken a significant engagement in a regional training course addressing the combating of human trafficking crimes in accordance with international human rights standards. The course, held at the United Nations House in Lusail, Qatar, represents a collaborative endeavour bringing together prosecutorial authorities from across the region to advance their collective expertise in this critical field.

The Emirati delegation comprised Counsellor Hamad Mohammed Al Aryani, Chief Prosecutor and member of the Public Prosecution’s specialised team dedicated to combating human trafficking crimes, alongside Counsellor Abdullah Hamad Al Shamsi, Senior Public Prosecutor at the Department of International Cooperation and Human Rights. This representation underscores the nation’s institutional commitment to the highest standards of prosecutorial excellence.

Orchestrated by the Institute of Criminal Studies at the Public Prosecution of the State of Qatar, in cooperation with the United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region, the course assembled members of Public Prosecutions and prosecutorial authorities from across the region. The comprehensive curriculum addressed an array of sophisticated topics, encompassing the enrichment of knowledge regarding international and national legal frameworks, whilst simultaneously developing refined skills in investigation methodologies, evidence collection and rigorous analytical processes, including the examination of digital and financial evidence.

The course placed particular emphasis upon strengthening prosecutorial capacity to address transnational crimes through the activation of enhanced mechanisms for international judicial cooperation and coordination. Furthermore, the programme prioritised the reinforcement of a human rights-centred approach to victim protection and the safeguarding of vulnerable and at-risk populations.

This participation constitutes an integral element of the State Public Prosecution’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the professional capabilities of its members, upholding the principles of criminal justice and human rights protection, and affirming its instrumental role in combating human trafficking crimes. These serious offences represent amongst the most profound violations of human dignity, demanding the application of sophisticated prosecutorial frameworks. The State Public Prosecution continues to pursue these vital objectives through the development of an integrated judicial system that contributes meaningfully to the protection of society and the safeguarding of its rights in accordance with international best practices and standards.
