Crown Prince Hamdan Celebrates Red-Carpet Travel Corridor’s Dubai-it Award Victory

The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai has been honoured for its transformative travel technology, which enables passengers to complete clearance in under five seconds
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, has extended his congratulations to the Red-Carpet Travel Corridor project team upon receiving the esteemed Dubai-it Award for Projects in the Field of Government.
This remarkable achievement recognises the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai’s extraordinary transformation of the passenger clearance experience at Dubai International Airport. The pioneering project has reimagined travel procedures with remarkable elegance and efficiency, enabling passengers to complete travel clearance in under five seconds without presenting documents or pausing their passage.
His Highness emphasised the significance of this accomplishment, reflecting upon Dubai’s unwavering commitment to technological innovation. “The Dubai-it philosophy is about making a leap in how things are done, going beyond what the world accepts as standard to deliver something extraordinary that redefines it,” His Highness remarked. “This is how we want technology to serve Dubai, by making people’s lives easier and creating experiences that exceed their expectations.”
The Red-Carpet Travel Corridor employs advanced artificial intelligence and biometric recognition technologies to verify passenger identities and execute clearance procedures with seamless automation. The system demonstrates remarkable capacity, processing up to ten passengers simultaneously through the smart corridor, in contrast to traditional lanes which process one passenger at a time, thereby increasing overall capacity tenfold.
The project’s accomplishments are quantified by tangible results of extraordinary measure. Beyond achieving the world’s fastest travel clearance experience, it has garnered a passenger satisfaction rate exceeding 99 per cent. The initiative has substantially reduced clearance and waiting times whilst enhancing operational efficiency, simultaneously delivering meaningful financial savings and measurable economic impact.
Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Chairman of the Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, underscored the initiative’s broader significance. “A city’s competitiveness is measured by its ability to facilitate the movement of people and business,” he observed. “The Red-Carpet Travel Corridor demonstrates how innovation translates into economic value and an experience unlike any other in the world: time given back to travellers, greater capacity for growth, and efficiency that strengthens Dubai’s standing as a global destination.”
The Dubai-it Award itself represents a framework for celebrating achievement in accordance with Dubai’s distinctive philosophy of work, which emphasises rapid execution, excellence and tangible results. Launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan, the annual award honours individuals, projects, institutions and companies that have contributed to transforming ambitious ideas into accomplished realities.
