The UAE National Guard has been admitted as a full member of the International Association of Gendarmeries and Police Forces with Military Status, marking a significant milestone in the nation's international security cooperation and institutional development.
The UAE National Guard has achieved full membership status within the International Association of Gendarmeries and Police Forces with Military Status (FIEP) following its admission during the organisation’s 2026 summit held in Argentina, a distinction that underscores the nation’s commitment to international security cooperation and institutional excellence.
Major General Staff Saleh Mohammed bin Mejren Al Ameri, Commander of the National Guard, led the UAE delegation to the summit, where the organisation’s member states formally recognised the National Guard as a full participant. This elevation culminates a dedicated year of active engagement and institutional collaboration, reflecting the international community’s confidence in the sophistication and operational capabilities of the UAE’s security and military institutions.
The admission represents a strategic affirmation of the UAE’s standing on the global security stage, a standing built upon the forward-thinking leadership that has prioritised the development of advanced national institutions, the cultivation of enduring strategic partnerships, and active contribution to security and stability across regional and international spheres.
In his address to the summit, Major General Staff Al Ameri characterised the National Guard’s accession as a defining institutional milestone and the threshold of a new era in multilateral security partnerships and cooperation. He emphasised that this achievement transcends ceremonial significance, constituting instead both an institutional accomplishment and a renewed commitment to substantive participation in the organisation’s objectives, the sharing of expertise and knowledge, and the continuous enhancement of training and capacity-building systems.
The National Guard Commander acknowledged that the contemporary security environment, marked by considerable complexity and transnational dimensions, necessitates robust international partnerships, sustained coordination and the pooling of integrated capabilities and expertise. He reiterated the UAE National Guard’s dedication to serving as a dependable and consequential partner in international security endeavours, whilst contributing meaningfully to the development and refinement of cooperative mechanisms.
The summit concluded with the signing of a joint declaration by member force commanders, affirming the collective commitment to strengthening international security cooperation, advancing mechanisms for coordination and information exchange, and fostering collaborative responses to emerging security threats and cross-border challenges. The declaration seeks to reinforce the readiness and responsiveness of member forces, thereby contributing substantively to regional and international security and stability.
