Dubai Electricity and Water Authority embarks upon a transformative digital initiative in collaboration with Emirates NBD, implementing an advanced Virtual Account IBAN solution designed to refine payment management and accelerate financial modernisation.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has entered into a strategic partnership with Emirates NBD to implement an innovative Virtual Account IBAN solution, a significant milestone in the Authority’s ongoing commitment to digital excellence and operational refinement. The Memorandum of Understanding was formalised during the 28th edition of the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition, underscoring the collaborative spirit between two of the region’s most respected institutions.
The Virtual Account IBAN solution represents a sophisticated advancement in financial operations management, designed to enhance the efficiency and precision of payment handling, reconciliation and settlement processes. Through the assignment of individual virtual account numbers to customers, entities and various payment channels, the solution facilitates the automation of payment identification and allocation, thereby substantially reducing the necessity for manual intervention whilst simultaneously strengthening operational oversight and control.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA, emphasised the strategic importance of this collaboration, noting that it exemplifies the Authority’s unwavering commitment to embracing cutting-edge digital solutions and financial innovations. The partnership aligns with broader objectives to establish a more intelligent, resilient and comprehensively integrated financial ecosystem that upholds the highest standards of governance and transparency.
The implementation of this solution is anticipated to deliver multifaceted benefits across DEWA’s financial operations. Enhanced accuracy in payment management will be complemented by improved reconciliation efficiency, whilst streamlined settlement processes will facilitate more informed decision-making at all levels of the organisation. The automation capabilities embedded within the solution will substantially diminish the time and resources previously devoted to manual reconciliation and payment tracking, thereby liberating operational capacity for more strategic endeavours.
Mohammed Salem Al Mana, Executive Vice President of Billing Services at DEWA, and Ahmed Al Qassim, Group Head of Wholesale Banking at Emirates NBD, oversaw the formal execution of the MoU, representing the commitment of both institutions to this transformative initiative. The partnership exemplifies the collaborative approach that continues to define the Emirates’ approach to technological innovation and institutional excellence.
