Dubai Police Harnesses Autonomous AI to Transform Policing Operations

The force advances plans to integrate intelligent autonomous systems across security and administrative functions, aligning with the UAE's broader vision to transform half of all government operations within two years.

Dubai Police are moving purposefully into a new era of technological governance, embedding autonomous artificial intelligence systems into the fabric of their operations. The shift marks a significant step in how security forces approach the dual imperatives of modern policing: responding to public need with greater speed and precision, whilst managing the administrative machinery that sustains such institutions.

The strategic direction emerged from a meeting of the Dubai Police Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence Council, overseen by Major General Dr Ahmad Zaal bin Krishan Almuhairi, Deputy Commander in Chief for Financial and Administrative Affairs. The council examined how Agentic AI—systems capable of executing tasks with greater autonomy and intelligence—might reshape both field operations and administrative procedures across the organisation.

The context is ambitious. The UAE Government has set a two-year target to transform 50 per cent of its sectors, services and operations through autonomous AI technologies. Dubai Police’s integration plans sit within this framework, reflecting a broader institutional commitment to leveraging technological innovation for operational advantage.

Major General Almuhairi underscored a central principle: that technological adoption must deliver measurable benefits. Operational efficiency, decision-making quality, service delivery and customer experience stand as the metrics against which progress will be judged. This emphasis on tangible outcomes rather than technological novelty alone reflects institutional maturity in approaching digital transformation.

Council discussions ranged across several domains. Members examined how autonomous systems might automate procedures, streamline workflows and enhance operational performance across policing and administrative functions. The vision extends to interconnected digital service channels, enabling public services to be accessed through integrated platforms that dissolve traditional departmental silos and simplify the citizen journey.

Business continuity and institutional resilience featured prominently in deliberations. Council members reviewed scenarios designed to test system readiness and ensure that essential services remain sustainable under varied operational conditions. This focus on robustness reflects an understanding that technological systems, however sophisticated, must ultimately serve human purposes and maintain function when circumstances demand it.

The transformation programme incorporates advanced analytics and emerging technologies aimed at reducing procedural complexity, accelerating transactions and enhancing both operational and field service delivery. These elements, when woven together, form a coherent vision of how technology might reshape not merely the tools of policing, but the experience of citizens seeking to interact with law enforcement and administrative services.

Major General Almuhairi emphasised the collaborative dimension of such transformation. Successful implementation demands close coordination between departments and shared commitment to adopting intelligent solutions. Automating procedures, simplifying customer journeys and improving data accuracy emerge as foundational priorities that will support both immediate operational gains and longer-term institutional readiness.

The council’s role in coordinating initiatives, monitoring implementation and directing advanced technologies toward organisational priorities remains central. These efforts, the leadership concluded, align with Dubai Government’s vision for integrated, proactive digital services and reinforce Dubai Police’s position as a leader in security innovation.
