Ajman Municipality Earns Global Innovation Recognition for Digital Building Safety Framework

The emirate's integrated approach to building compliance demonstrates how seamless coordination between government entities strengthens urban safety and security

The Ajman Municipality & Planning Department has received an Innovation Certification from the Global Innovation Institute in recognition of its Building Compliance Package, a digital framework designed to enhance building safety and security through coordinated government oversight and integrated data systems.

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality & Planning Department, accepted the certification, emphasising that the achievement reflects the department’s dedication to Ajman Vision 2030 and its broader strategic objective of comprehensive urban management. The recognition, he noted, underscores the department’s commitment to developing innovative solutions that address community needs whilst elevating quality of life.

The Building Compliance Package operates by linking tenancy contract attestation procedures with building compliance requirements related to safety and security standards. Through integration with partner entities, the system facilitates seamless data exchange and verification of compliance certificates, creating an interconnected framework that strengthens proactive oversight of the built environment.

The innovation emerged from collaborative work between Ajman Municipality & Planning Department, Ajman Police General Headquarters and Ajman Civil Defence General Directorate, exemplifying how cross-agency coordination produces tangible improvements to municipal services. Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi commended the teams involved in developing the package, emphasising that such integration among government bodies is essential to both developing services and improving procedural efficiency.

Engineer Ahmed bin Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director of the Buildings Department, briefed leadership on the package’s objectives, operational mechanisms and key outcomes. The system establishes an integrated verification framework that ensures buildings comply with established safety and security requirements, thereby streamlining procedures and supporting the emirate’s broader commitment to safe and sustainable urban development.

This recognition follows Ajman Municipality’s earlier Global Brands Award for its Smart Investment Maps Initiative, part of an ongoing pattern of innovation adoption. The department has similarly completed 27 transformative artificial intelligence initiatives across public health, urban planning and customer services, reflecting a systematic approach to modernising governance.
