UAE President welcomes King of Jordan to Abu Dhabi on fraternal visit
His Majesty King Abdullah II arrived in Abu Dhabi on 13 September 2026 for a fraternal visit and was received by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and senior Abu Dhabi officials.
King Abdullah II arrives in Abu Dhabi
His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan arrived in Abu Dhabi on 13 September 2026 for a fraternal visit to the United Arab Emirates. The King was welcomed on arrival by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The reception in Abu Dhabi included a number of senior members of the emirate’s leadership. His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, was present to receive the King, together with H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President. Several other senior officials accompanied them.
Accompanying His Majesty were members of the Jordanian delegation, notably His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, together with a number of senior Jordanian officials. The visit, described by official sources as fraternal in nature, brings together senior representatives from both sides in Abu Dhabi.
The arrival underlines the close and longstanding ties between the UAE and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Both countries have maintained regular high-level dialogue and cooperation across diplomatic, cultural and economic spheres. Official visits of this kind are a customary means for leaders to reaffirm bilateral relations and explore avenues for continued collaboration.
WAM’s brief statement gave the roster of senior figures who received His Majesty on arrival but did not elaborate on a public schedule of engagements. Further announcements by the two governments can be expected to set out the agenda and any meetings to follow during the course of the visit.
Abu Dhabi frequently hosts visits by regional leaders, and state receptions at this level reflect the emirate’s role as the seat of the federal government and of many national institutions. This reception signifies the importance both states attach to regular personal contact between their highest officials.
