UAE and Syrian presidents discuss strengthening bilateral ties

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed received Syrian President Ahmad Al‑Sharaa in Abu Dhabi, where the two leaders discussed economic and development cooperation, regional security and the recent UAE economic delegation to Syria.
Presidents meet to advance cooperation
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met His Excellency Ahmad Al‑Sharaa in Abu Dhabi on 15 September to discuss ways to deepen UAE‑Syria relations, with particular emphasis on economic and development cooperation. The meeting took place during President Al‑Sharaa’s working visit to the UAE to participate in the 24th edition of the Arab Media Summit in Dubai.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing bilateral ties to support each country’s development priorities and the prosperity and wellbeing of their peoples. They highlighted the significance of a recent UAE economic delegation visit to Syria, which they said has helped to strengthen cooperation and to establish frameworks to support economic recovery and to advance strategic projects through partnerships serving both nations’ development goals.
Discussions also touched on the agenda of the Arab Media Summit, with both presidents exchanging views on media-related matters addressed at the event. In addition, they exchanged perspectives on regional and international developments, and on their implications for the future security and stability of the Middle East.
Both leaders underlined the importance of strengthening regional and international security and stability as foundations for wellbeing and development across the region. The meeting framed economic recovery and strategic partnership as complementary to those wider stability objectives.
The delegation attending the meeting included senior members of the UAE leadership: His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court; His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region; and other members of the ruling family and senior officials.
Also present were His Highness Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; and a number of sheikhs, ministers, officials and guests.
At the conclusion of his working visit, His Excellency Ahmad Al‑Sharaa departed the UAE and was seen off at the airport by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and a number of officials.
